Jeffrey Rüdes co-founded J Brand in 2004 and therefore has a wealth of experience in understanding what men wear and how they shop. In 2014 he decided to leave the J Brand when it was sold to Japanese giant Uniqlo, and start working on his own luxury menswear brand under his name. J Brand was all about jeans but his collections under the Jeffrey Rüdes name are more diverse and focused on luxury.
Luxury Collection
The motto of Jeffrey Rüdes is “Created in Los Angeles, Crafted in Italy”. It is about timeless European craftsmanship and effortless elegant style. The collection which combines luxury fabrics with traditional tailoring gives it a refined and modern attitude. This collection is all about fit, it combines classic cut blazers, leather and shearling jackets, crisp shirts, sweaters and skinny jeans. These items are essential in the wardrobes of every modern man.
Last July Jeffrey Rüdes opened up his first retail store in Soho New York. and what is represented there is something that is quite unique to the luxury market, the two-storey space at 57 Greene street will showcase new stock every month. There will be new relevant stock that is inline with the current season let alone weather. In his own words: “It has to be buy now, wear now,” he said. “We want it to feel fresh every time our customer walks in.” I have seen this a lot in the lower segment with chains like Zara, but in the luxury segment this is still not used much.
Jeffrey Rüdes is a man after my own heart. Men want to buy clothes they can wear right now. They just want to see it, try it, feel it and walk out that door wearing their latest purchase.
The Fall Collection
The current Fall collections centers around the black skinny jeans with a high quality shirt or t-shirt for a more casual look. This is than combined with a variety of different jackets which all work well from double breasted to single breasted and from wool to silk to leather. It is the quality of the materials and the fit that really count here. This collection is great to take the man straight from the office into the nightlife that cities like New York offer.
