Malta is a beautiful island and what you want to find is a hotel with a picture perfect view. Le Meridien St Julians Hotel & Spa offers exactly that and more. The hotel is located right off the main road at Balluta Bay, with the sea facing rooms having amazing views over the bay and the local church of Lady of Mount Carmel. The location in the centre of St Julians makes it also close to local bars and restaurants which are literally a stones throw away.
When I walked into the reception area I was immediately impressed with all the local art work that was on display. Every three months the art work changes and if you really like it, you are most welcome to purchase it.

Executive Suite
I was staying at the seafront facing Executive suites and when walking towards our room I could not help notice the carpet in the corridor, it shows The George cross. The George cross was awarded to Malta by King George in 1942 for the heroism and devotion of its people during the great siege it underwent at World War II.
When I walked into the room in was blown away with the view. The executive suite comes with a living room with 2 sofa beds, a separate bedroom and two bathrooms. Having two balconies was excellent in taking in this picturesque view of St Julians Bay and the Mediterranean. I liked how the toilet was separate from the bathrooms and how they had two bathroom areas. I loved the the refined bathroom, equipped with a rain shower and the large bath tub.
The executive suite gives you also access to the Executive Lounge where I went for complementary drinks. The executive suite is big at 80 m2 and was perfect to house my family with two small kids. Each room had its own large flat screen TV and there was also a coffee machine. The executive suite was amazing for the views and I was surprised how quiet it was. Water views are very relaxing and if you’re here to relax and distress then this is the place to go.

Four Hand Massage – Myoka Spa
Over the last two weeks I had a massive agenda and was struggling from the flu and had a very sore throat. No mater what I did my throat was killing me. I have had many massages in my life but I have never opted for the four hand massage. The massage I tried comes from India around 5000 years ago. The idea is two people at the same time pressure massage your whole body. This makes a one hour massage the equivalent of getting a two hour massage. The difference is that 1o min into it, I could not focus on one part of my body and it completely relaxed my mind. I fell asleep during the massage, which has never happened to me before. It is the ultimate indulgent experience for those who find it difficult to unwind.

For me this was one of the best massages I have had in Europe and the setting and smell here was amazing. What I loved is when you finish they normally give you water but on this occasion I had Prosecco and love heart chocolates. After one hour after this treatment, that two week sore throat was gone.

Gentleman’s Facial
I leave this to my other half to explain the facial he had at the Spa.
I decided to have a Gentleman’s Facial treatment from Myoka Spas which is about a 90 minute treatment. The treatment includes exfoliation, extractions, mask and a face, back and neck massage. To start of I had to fill out a questionnaire about what I wanted from my facial. The gentleman’s facial is unique in that it uses products just for men to cater to their special skin needs.
I have had facials before, and for men that have never had them there are two painful parts, first is the exfoliation, the removing of dead skin and the second part is the removal of blackheads. The exfoliation performed here was done with an ultrasonic tool. After the exfoliation and extractions I had a facial mask. Whilst waiting for the mask to get hard I received a head, back and neck massage. Once the mask was removed it was time for the final part of the treatment, the ultrasound treatment. The therapist applies an antioxidant serum and runs a mushroom-shaped ultrasound wand over my face. The ultrasound helps the serum to penetrate deep into your skin.
My skin looked younger, cleaner and fresher after the treatment. If you have time and want to pamper yourself why not try it.
Mercedes Benz – Malta Fashion Week
Unexpectedly Malta Fashion Week was on and I asked if Le Meridien would support my transport. It was so nice to have my own car heading to a fashion show that I was not familiar with. So if you’re requiring a special lift anywhere then the hotel offers this too. What a better way to kick off an event than having a few cocktails in the reception before jetting off.

Rooftop Pool, Restaurant and Sun Deck
It was a shame it was a bit too windy during my stay as I would have loved to swim in the outdoor rooftop pool. The whole rooftop consists of two pools, a main one and a little paddle pool which is excellent for smaller kids. The Bajjia restaurant prides itself as being one of the highest in the area with views to match.

Lotus Indoor Pool
It was windy outside but luckily the hotel has also got a great indoor pool area. This is on level 2 where there is also the indoor Spa with its treatments. This is great because of you’ve had a massage it is a perfect way to relax even more.
Conclusion
The Le Meridien in Malta is hotel with a great location which allows you to enjoy the Sun with views over the bay and the island. It is luxurious in having both an indoor and outdoor pool area and has a Spa with a huge amount of treatments. This Spa attracts both locals and visitors that come to Malta, the staff are very well trained and for a hotel one of the best treatments I have had within a hotel.The location is right in the middle of the action with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance.
