Malmaison Manchester – Boutique Hotel Reviewed

Manchester-Banner-Logo-50I have never been to Manchester before and only ever heard of the Manchester City and Manchester United Football clubs. MenStyleFashion together with Manchester tourism created Luxury Week Manchester in which I would tour around town and experience luxury hotels, restaurants, tourist and shopping destinations. For this 4 day experience I was staying at The Malmaison Manchester hotel.

The Malmaison Manchester is located right opposite Piccadilly Station, which is perfect for business stays or weekend trips to Manchester. It is also on the edge of the fashionable Northern Quarter, a must see whilst staying in Manchester. The Malmasion Manchester was one of the first boutique hotels to open up in Manchester. The hotel was transformed from an elegant ornate warehouse which dates back to 1904. The hotel consits of 167 luxury rooms and 13 suites, and I had to chance to try one of the suites.

The Malmaison chain has a total of 15 hotels all across the big cities around the UK. The hotels are very different with dark and rich colours throughout the hotels, the Manchester hotel was no exception and deserves the tag boutique.

Manchester Suites

I stayed in one of the biggest and best rooms in this hotel. As I was doing Luxury Week Manchester for four days in a row I brought a lot of luggage with me and I appreciated having such a spacious room to get dressed. I also loved the space for chilling out on the lounge reflecting on what this gorgeous city showed me. The suite had a total of six windows, which gave me excellent views towards the city.

The suite had two huge rooms each equipped with a spacious lounge and flatscreen TV with Bose surround sound. My room was called the ‘True Blue’ Manchester City suite, I am not biased to any football team in Manchester. The bed was huge and my view was looking out over the train station. I liked this because it gave me a real understanding of what the city was about. I was running around Manchester for four days and after a long day I had an option of choosing the “monsoon shower” or the separate bath.

Smoak Bar And Grill

The Smoak Bar and Grill had a great loud atmosphere with people coming from Manchester and beyond to eat here. The staff were all very international which is nice to see. The grill options are not overwhelming and I chose to eat a steak with my favorite sauce called peppercorn. What I like is that you could see the meat on display, I have not seen this before. Where as fish tanks or fish displayed on ice I have seen in many others.

The wine list was good and it was a great place to meet people if you are on your own like me. The cocktail bar which is called the Malbar had a great atmosphere and the setting was like a really cool funky bar. I happened to meet two guys who booked a room with a jacuzzi and they come from Manchester, they just love this hotel and the bar that is in it.

Breakfast

The breakfast is fabulous too and they can cope with many people come in and out. I had a very sore throat and the staff went out of their way every morning to create my own lemon and honey tea. I loved the homemade muesli and the selection of fresh fruit too.

Malmaison Spa

I am an expert when it comes to Spa experiences. I am recovering from a severe shoulder blade fracture. So when I am travelling things become very painful. I was told that bookings are also made from outside the hotel which is always a good sign. The smell when you enter is really nice. I chose a deep tissue massage and it really relaxed me. The room was nice and everything smelt amazing. Guys I would opt for one of these a nice way to get you into relaxing mode. Also if you’re on business,it is a perfect distress.

Conclusion

If you are after a hotel right near the train station in the centre of Manchester that is different and has a personality, than you must stay at the Malmaison. For my stay a very big thank you to all the staff who made me feel really welcome and looked after me. As I always say you can have the best hotel, but it is the people that make your stay worth coming back for.
