As part of Luxury week London I am reviewing Mimosa Chelsea, a restaurant located in the heart of buzzing Chelsea which offers modern British food. Mimosa Chelsea is part of Elysium, an Essex-based restaurant and bar group. It is the second site under the Mimosa brand with the original one based in Colchester. The restaurant is located in a three-storey Georgian townhouse with the interior designed by award-winning Julian Taylor Design Associates. The interior at night is very dark so when entering I was somewhat confused whether this was a bar or a restaurant, but the fact is, it’s both and there is even a club on the lower ground floor. This makes Mimosa the perfect chilled place where you can eat, drink and dance the night away.
We were greeted by the very passionate owner who was really keen to showcase what his menus had to offer. We started off with some of his cocktails which were tasty. The laid back approach and friendly way of being served is refreshing and it makes you really feel like you’re at home.
The Food
We were served a mixture of food as they wanted us to understand what was new on the menu. They were exploring new ways of presenting food and its taste. I have to say it was unusual on the palate and that doesn’t mean I didn’t like it. I really had to think about what was being served which was fun in itself, with the quality of the food being excellent. We were dining with the four of us and we were just enjoying the food and the drinks. I felt like I was at my cousin’s place in Italy, it was fun, refreshing and chilled. Mimosa is that kind of place.
Limoncello Dessert Drink
My favourite was the Limoncello dessert drink. With my Italian roots I am very familiar with this liqueur. Limoncello is an Italian lemon liqueur mainly produced in Southern Italy, especially in the region around the Gulf of Naples, the Sorrentine Peninsula and the coast of Amalfi, and islands of Procida, Ischia, and Capri. We were told they wanted to make this their very own signature piece here. I have to say I would go back for this alone.
Conclusion
With the club at the basement now open for business, Mimosa is a place you know you can party all night long whilst eating and drinking great British inspired food in the restaurant above.
