The Development Of The Stainless Steel Textile
The development of the stainless steel textile woven from threads of purely stainless steel also combines the artistry of letterpress-style plate making with modern press operations. Since the project began, the studio has expanded their portfolio, introducing over a dozen stainless steel textured fabrics.

The Stainless Steel Wallet was originally designed in 2005. It encompasses the discovery, refinement and development of Stewart Stand’s signature stainless steel material which coincided with a seminal exhibition at The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York, under the title of the exhibition: Extreme Textiles.
The material has diverse applications: Incorporated into spacesuits for durability and appreciated by architects for its flexible and stable nature. It is also favoured by engineers for its precision and im-permeability and preferred by surgeons for strength; before ultimately being chosen by Stewart Stand for its beauty and security.
