What do you wear when heading to Pitti Uomo in Florence? This is the biggest menswear fashion trade show in the world. For Europeans attending it was all about wearing linen suits for summer. Linen in the soaring heat this year for Europe is the key to staying effortlessly cool. Who better o make a heat-waving impact than the founder of MenStyleFashion, Gracie Opulanza to tell her sorry here at Pitti.
Today in Milan it is going to be 36 degrees and in Spain it is 40degrees, what do you wear to work on these days?
At the moment Milan and Florence are experiencing heat up to 36degrees. So how does a guy do his meetings without working up too much sweat? It takes planning to keep cool this summer.
How To Choose Your Suit
At Pitti Uomo I noticed men of every size wearing linen suits. From tight-fitting suits to larger sizes. The men walked around very calm, happy and confident at 32 degrees. I was so hot in my t-shirt and Dolce & Gabbana skirt. The men nailed it when it came to wearing linen suits from browns to dusty pink bright red and everything white. There were so many outstanding style inspirations for men of all ages. Linen for summer weddings is our top pick.
Wearing vintage linen all the way from Sweden.
Sweat Free Style
The familiar fabrics for hot days are breathable textiles such as cashmere and silk worn by Nicolo here today. At 32 degrees Nicolo did not even work up to much sweat. His top tips are sockless loafers to sustain a footless comfortable day here in Italy. Don’t forget to use often a decent antiperspirant deodorant.
Nicco always lives and dresses in the Italian lifestyle. A great example of embracing one’s first-ever linen suit.
There was no sign of showing skin for this heatwave at Pitti. All of the men were telling me that good quality linen does not mean you can’t layer the outfit. like Filipos from Greece in his eccentric red suit.
His top tip is to start wearing bright powerful colours and team them with Loui Vuitton sockless loafers. He has 300 strong team members creating endless amounts of linen suits for all ages and gender.
Don’t forget your leather tote bag too.
Men Over Fifty
The men over fifty were stealing the show in making a super extra effort regarding layering your linen suit.
Gender Has No Limits
I noticed these two walking around every two hours in the same style of linen suits but changing all the time. So if you want to opt for a mix and match attire. Then look for these two as an inspiration on how to wear linen suits. Make sure when wearing lightweight fabrics and especially white suits. They tend to be a little transparent so choose your underwear wisely.
Opt for the same skin-tone fabrics to hide your undergarments.
Don’t worry about that linen creases that is part of the chic charm of it all.
The top is from an Italian brand called. Missoni teamed with an elastic waisted band of linen trousers. Fabulous for that Covid 19 tummy we all gained.
Gorgeous linen suit for business here at Pitti. Very Safari style look.
Add A Hat & Sandals
Here many men teamed their linen suits with a hat. We opt for Stetson hats as they are durable and last many soring heat moments. They have a silk one which is perfect for hot days.
These are straw sandals from Morocco. They look amazing with linen suits. Very Monaco and Superyacht friendly. Or if you are heading to Forte Dei Marmi in Tuscany.
And as for sandals the very popular Birkenstock took centre stage at Pitti. Get yourself a summer suit ready and head to Tuscany for some food, food and classic driving.
