trendy-week-brussels-smallBrussels makes a perfect destination for a weekend break, with Belgium famous for its many beers, chocolates and good food there are plenty of reasons to visit Brussels. One of the main sights in Brussels is the Grand Place, which is the central square of Brussels. The square is my opinion one of the most beautiful squares in the world. The Royal Windsor Hotel Grand Place is perfectly located as you can walk in 2 minutes to this square.

Grand Place by night

The Royal Windsor Hotel Grand Place is a hotel that combines Old World elegance with luxury amenities. It is operated by Warwick hotels which has a total of 55 hotels around the world.

The ground floor houses the lobby area where check-in was swift, I arrived around 14.00 and was eager to see what the city has to offer. After touring the Grand Place, Manneken Pis, various chocolatiers and seeing the famous square again by night, I came back to the hotel to the Waterloo bar. This is a perfect venue to hang out after a long day of touring around Brussels and retreat away from the hustle and bustle. With some nice tunes from the piano I drank another Chimay beer, one of my favourites.

Classic Room

I stayed at the classic room with a queen size bed and about 18m2 of space. The room does look large which is due to the full size mirror near the bedhead. The desk area is large enough for doing some computer work. This room comes with high speed WiFi and LAN Internet access. The desk has also tea and coffee making facilities. The room was surprisingly quiet considering its central location, I could hear no outside noise at all and the same can be said from noise from other rooms. The mattress was right for me not too hard or too soft, I felt rested from the early flight to Brussels, and I was ready to conquer another day of sightseeing in Brussels.

Fitness Centre

After a long day of walking I could not find the energy to go to a Fitness centre, but the hotel does have an exercise room to do both cardio and free weights, maybe I should have opted for the sauna instead.

Restaurant

For those that want to eat at the hotel, the Chutney’s Restaurant is a city centre favourite. If the welcoming ambiance brings guests in, the delectable Belgian-international cuisine brings them back. Guests enjoy an assortment of Belgian specialties, steaks, pastas, wine by the glass and, of course, world-famous Belgian beers.

Breakfast

The hotel offers its guest the option of a fabulous full American buffet breakfast in its Grand Salon room. It is a buffet of freshly squeezed juices, a wide selection of pastries and fresh breads, jams and marmalades, an assortment of meats, smoked fish, cheeses and salads, eggs cooked to your choice, various dairy products, pastries and fresh fruit, tea and coffee.

Conclusion

The Royal Windsor Hotel Grand Place Brussels is a hotel with old world charm and this is the perfect decor for lots of old world charm that it is surrounded by. The location is perfect right in the centre to explore the sights of Brussels. This combined with the all modern world amenities makes this hotel perfect for a long weekend break.
