The second day of my stay in South Tyrol Italy was just as breathtaking as my first day. It was a day of hiking, enjoying the scenery and eating good mountain food, this time in the Alta Pusteria area. MenStyleFashion spent 3 full days in South Tyrol Italy as part of a press trip organised by South Tyrol Tourism. This trip took into account some of the best culinary highlights, amazing scenery, outdoor activities and luxurious accommodation of South Tyrol. The first day was spent around the Alta Badia region in the south-east of South Tyrol; now I explored a region a bit more north closer to the Austrian border called Alta Pusteria.
Alta Pusteria Region
Alta Pusteria also known as the Hochpustertal in German is a valley in the heart of the Dolomite mountains which are great for hiking in summer and skiing in winter. It has five holiday areas Sesto, San Candido, Dobbiaco, Villabassa and Braies. I spent one day in San Candido also known as Innichen which was used as a base for going to two spectacular mountain areas known as Three Peaks and the Lago Di Braies.
Stay & Eat – Leitlhof San Candido
At the end of an action-packed day in Alta Badia, I was driven to a more northern part of South Tyrol to the market town of San Candido. Here I stayed at the Leitlhof Hotel, which is a hotel that due to its slight elevation has a great view of the town of San Candido and the mountains opposite. The Leitlhof Hotel is a traditional South Tyrolean chalet-style building in the middle with modern extensions at each side. The rooms fit well with the alpine surroundings and have a very wooden feel. The hotel comes with a Spa, indoor pool and heated outdoor pool. The outdoor pool was great to relax in after the full day of activities I had in the Alta Badia region. What I liked about this pool that it was made of stainless steel which made everything reflect in the water. I have never taken such a beautiful pool photo as at the Leitlhof.

My amazing pool photo at the Leitlhof hotel.
The trip to South Tyrol was also about culinary experiences and tonight I ate at the Leitlhof hotel restaurant. I had the four-course house menu which seemed good value for the quality of the food. It was a mix of local and Italian dishes.
