1. North Yungas Road, Bolivia
Officially known as the ´Road of Death´ and located in the Yungas region of Bolivia – this route is legendary for its extreme danger prompting the Inter-American Development Bank to christen it as the ´world’s most dangerous road´. One guess is that between 200 – 300 travellers are killed every year navigating the road which you can see from their cross markings on many of the spots where vehicles have fallen to their doom. It´s a common occurrence for trucks and buses to drop headlong into the valley below, especially when they try passing each other at high speed.
