Eco Fashion (Sustainable)
Eco-fashion’ refers to fashionable and stylish clothing manufactured using environmentally- friendly processes under free trade conditions and is becoming a growing force in the market. At its extreme, it can mean recycled clothing and even recycled materials, such as eco-fleeces produced from recycled plastic bottles. It has recently taken on greater importance, with a number of designers looking to work with environmentally-friendly materials and processes. As consumers become more aware of the processes involved in making clothes and the potential carbon footprint of manufacturing overseas, eco-fashion is becoming more commonplace and is in itself a marketing tool to attract customers, whether they are interested in high-end or mass-market design. Organisations such as the Ethical Fashion Forum (EFF) enable designers, businesses and organisations to focus on social and environmental sustainability in the fashion industry.
