4. Karakoram Highway, Pakistan

Named the ´Friendship Highway´ by its local governments, the Karakoram Highway is officially the highest paved international road in the world. It links China and Pakistan across the Karakoram mountain range at an elevation of 4,693 metres (through the Khunjerab Pass). Despite being susceptible to floods and landslides, the road is still a tourist attraction thanks to some spectacular gorges you can see whilst driving along the old Silk Road.
